What are ragas?
Ragas are melodic frameworks rooted in Indian classical music. More than a scale or a song, each raga has its own distinct pattern of notes, movements, emphasis, and emotional character. Traditionally, ragas have been associated with particular moods, times of day, seasons, and states of consciousness.
A raga goes behind traditional music or sound. Its carefully structured movement creates an experience… one that can invite stillness, release, vitality, devotion, protection, or expansion.
Why are they used in this protocol?
The root of complex chronic illness lies heavily in regulating the autonomic nervous system. Research now shows the intricate link between the nervous and immune system.
While this is a known fact, there is not many solutions out there to modulate this mechanism. An emerging field is through sound and music.
The mechanisms are still elusive according to modern day science, however ancient Indian systems have mapped the body beyond its physical components into energetic ones. When the energetic body becomes imbalanced due to emotions, beliefs, trauma, stress, toxins, etc. it can leave a residual impact, thus causing '“nervous system dysregulation”.
Much of this is under the level of our conscious awareness and is subconscious that is very hard to fix through talk therapies or medication alone. Music and sound penetrate this layer so it can excavate and consequently heal this imbalance.
“Raga therapy” has been used for centuries to rectify certain imbalances within the energy body. While data is emerging in this area, this continues to be a growing field of endless possibility.
Alekha has personally used ragas and mantras in her own healing journey and they have provided immense impact. In fact, she describes that they “manually restructured her nervous system” leading to a level of healing in her physical body that she had not seen before.
